Ready for the Catwalk? New Cosplay Competition Coming to Fantasy Festival 2025
Are you passionate about costumes, characters, and fantasy worlds? Then we’ve got exciting news! For the very first time, Fantasy Festival 2025 is hosting a cosplay competition, where both dedicated cosplayers and creative souls can showcase their work.
The competition takes place on Saturday, September 20th at Musikhuset Esbjerg and consists of two parts:

Pre-judging, where participants present their costume to the judges in a calm setting
Catwalk, where they take the stage to showcase their costume in front of an audience and the judging panel
“Cosplay has long been a vibrant part of the Fantasy Festival atmosphere, so it’s only natural that we take the next step and give cosplayers their own stage. We can’t wait to celebrate creativity and imagination with the audience,” says Jacob Holm Krogsøe, Project Manager for Fantasy Festival.
A Magical Host
Hosting the event is Niklas Frandsen—a passionate cosplayer and known from Den Store Bagedyst—who will guide both participants and audience through the competition as master of ceremonies.
Compete in Five Categories:
- Best Lookalike
- Best Original Character
- Best Craftsmanship
- Best Villain
- Audience Favourite
The first four categories will be judged by a panel, while the Audience Favorite will be chosen by public vote. Participants may register for multiple categories with the same costume.

Registration opens on April 22nd and closes when all slots are filled—or by May 12th at the latest.
