# Cosplay Competition

Fantasyfestival is once again hosting a cosplay competition and you can take part!

The competition consists of two parts: a pre-judging round, where your costume is presented to the judges only, and a catwalk, where all participants showcase their costumes in front of an audience made up of other festival guests and the judging panel.

**There are five fabulous categories to win:**

- Best Lookalike
- Best Original Character
- Best Craftsmanship
- Best Hero
- Audience Favourite

The first four are determined by the judges, while the Audience Favourite is chosen solely through public voting. One winner is selected for each of the five categories, and you’re welcome to register for more than one category with the same costume.

**Highly Skilled Judges**

To ensure a fair evaluation, we’ve carefully selected three highly skilled judges.

**Registration opens on Friday, May 1 and closes once all spots are filled or by Wednesday, August 12th at the latest.A photo of the finished cosplay must be sent to us no later than Friday, September 4th.**

## Rules and General Information

                                    Who Can Participate?

In short: anyone wearing a costume. Whether you're a cosplayer, LARPer, or someone with your own original character as long as your costume meets our criteria and rules, you're welcome.

                                    Conditions

Your costume must be at least partly self-made. Props count as part of the costume.

**Note:** If you're entering the *Best Craftsmanship* category, the part you're entering with must be self-made.  See that category for more details.

                                    General Rules

- You must be at least 18 years old to register.
- All props must comply with Danish weapon laws [JV1] .
- Costumes must be appropriate for an audience that includes children. If in doubt, please send a reference image.
- Costumes must allow you to move independently on the catwalk.

    - If you need a personal assistant due to special circumstances, mention this in your application.
- By registering, you agree that Fantasyfestival may photograph the event and use the images for promotional purposes.
- You cannot participate if you are otherwise hired by Fantasy Festival while wearing the same costume.

                                    Costume Rules

- Parts of your costume may be store-bought. You must state which parts upon registration. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.

    - If any parts of your costume change unexpectedly, notify us by email no later than two weeks before the competition.
- If others helped make your costume, you must state this. Even if there was no transaction involved.

                                    Pre-judging

All participants must attend pre-judging to ensure fair assessment.

You will receive a specific time between 11:10–13:05 no later than 7 days after the registration deadline.

- You have 5 minutes to pitch your costume to the judges, regardless of the number of categories entered.
- Judges may inspect details up close.
- Judges may ask questions.
- Arrive at least 10 minutes early, dressed and ready – failure to show will result in disqualification.

### Cosmic\_julieverse

Cosmic\_julieverse has been a cosplayer since 2014 and has worked with many different characters and styles over the years, especially within science fiction. She has extensive experience with crafting, materials and makeup, which she sees as an important part of bringing a character to life.

In her own cosplay, cosmic\_julieverse often works with genderbend, combining respect for the original character with her own creative expression. As a judge, she is especially looking forward to seeing the participants’ craftsmanship, character interpretation and original designs on stage.

### **Weaponsmith**

Weaponsmith has been cosplaying since 2010 and is known for his motto: “the bigger, the better”. This has led to spectacular characters such as Saurfang and Archimonde from World of Warcraft.

He is a true foam-smith and creates most of his costumes from EVA foam, but also works with silicone masks, muscle suits and 3D printing. As a judge, Weaponsmith is looking forward to seeing the participants’ creative wonders unfold on stage at Fantasyfestival.

### **Elf Darling Cami**

Elf Darling Cami has been part of the cosplay community since 2010 and has competed in several competitions over the years. Most recently, she was crowned Crown Champion of Cosplay 2026 at MCM London.

Cami loves bringing characters to life through carefully chosen materials and meticulous craftsmanship, especially when working with recycled materials. Her skills include sewing, 3D modelling, painting techniques, wigs and makeup. As a trained theatrical makeup artist, she has a keen eye for the details that complete a character.

As a judge, Cami is looking forward to seeing the contestants’ creativity and craftsmanship come to life on stage at Fantasyfestival.

                                    Meet our host

Anso the Anso is a Danish cosplayer and host with experience presenting cosplay competitions both in Denmark and abroad. She has taken the stage as a host several times and is used to guiding both participants and audiences safely through the show.

When she is not hosting, she shares her cosplay work on social media, where she is known for creative costumes that often make people think: “How on earth did she come up with that idea?”

                                    Categories

**Best Lookalike**

- Costume must be based on official designs from cartoons, comics, anime, manga, films, TV shows, video games, web series, etc.
- You must state which character you’re portraying and from what media.

**Best Original Character**

- Costume must be your own design and not based on official media.
- It may be inspired by known franchises and universes.

**Best Craftsmanship**

- The registered costume piece must be entirely self-made. Materials may be bought, but no part of the crafting can be done by someone else.
- You may register one of the following:
    - One prop
    - Wig/hairstyle
    - Makeup/special effects
    - One clothing item (e.g. one dress, one pair of pants, one cloak, etc.)

**Best Hero**

- Costume may be original or lookalike. The entire costume is judged as a whole.
- This category is exclusive to this year’s festival.

**Audience Favourite**

- All participants are automatically entered in this category.
- The selection is based on the catwalk performance in front of the judges and the audience.
- Winner is selected by the audience through online voting during the catwalk.

                                    Prizes

- There will be one winner per category
- All winners will receive a trophy and a sponsored prize pack
- Winners will be announced on Fantasyfestival’s platforms, along with a photo and any received SoMe tags.

                                    Time & Location

Venue: Musikhuset Esbjerg (Havnegade 18, 6700 Esbjerg)

Both pre-judging and catwalk will take place here.

Pre-judging: 11:10 AM - 1:05 PM

Catwalk + Judging + Awards: 1:30 - 2:30 PM. All participants must arrive by 1:15 PM, dressed and ready.

- You’ll be introduced by the host as you walk the catwalk.
- Each participant has 1 minute on stage.
