Lev Grossman
“You cannot study magic. You cannot learn it. You must ingest it. Digest it. You must merge with it. And it with you” – from The Magicians.
Lev Grossman was born in Concord, Massachusetts, USA, in 1965 and is educated in literature. In addition to being a novelist, he has a sharp journalistic pen, having written articles on everything from video games to comics, and has interviewed figures like Bill Gates, Neil Gaiman, J.K. Rowling, and Salman Rushdie.
In 1997, he debuted as an author with Warp, and his second novel, Codex, was released in 2004. But it was with the The Magicians series that magic truly entered his literary work, with the first book published in 2009 – in Danish Magikerne. A total of three books have been released in the series, which was also adapted into a TV show that ran for five seasons from 2015 to 2020. The Silver Arrow (2020) and The Golden Swift (2022) are fantasy novels for children and magical souls – like us.
Grossman’s latest novel, The Bright Sword, released this year, takes a fresh look at the Arthurian myth. Regarding the book, George R. R. Martin has written: "If you love King Arthur as much as I do, you’ll love Lev Grossman’sThe Bright Sword."
We’re very excited for Lev to visit Esbjerg and the Fantasy Festival in 2025.
