# When the villain became the hero

The morality of the fantasy genre is rarely black and white. Jakob Levinsen examines the stories in which apparent villains gradually reveal a hidden ethic – perhaps even to themselves. With examples such as Jaime Lannister and Severus Snape, the lecture takes a closer look at the mechanisms that make a change of side possible, and what determines whether a villain has the potential for change. A presentation about morality, doubt and character development in the gray areas of the fantasy genre.
