The Music of Villains
Talk by Mogens Høegsberg and Nicolas Barbano.
Esbjerg
Machiavelli didn’t mention it in his handbook for princes, but among a tyrant’s psychological weapons is the sudden blare of furious trumpets and thunderous drums heralding his arrival in a procession of henchmen, sycophants, and marching bands.
Film villains use a similar terror tactic in the form of soundtrack music — from Darth Vader’s awe-inspiring Imperial March to abstract rumbling tones deeper than the deepest basso profondo, more felt than heard.
We may not consciously notice the music, but it works. Join Barbano & Høegsberg and learn why in this talk where harmonies and dissonance unite in a demonic symphony of delightful evil.
