Opening of Fantasy Festival 2025
Author words and villain song open the Fantasy Festival.
Esbjerg
When Fantasy Festival 2025 opens, we have something truly special in store. Two of the most distinctive voices in the fantasy genre, Kenneth Bøgh Andersen and Tad Williams, will begin with author words before the stage is handed over to the villains – and to a very special song that holds both humor and a cherished memory.
This spring, the Esbjerg legend and magnificent storyteller Hanne Meyer wrote a villain song for this year’s festival. The song was meant to open the festival. At the time, Hanne was gravely ill and passed away in June. Fortunately, we have the song – and Hanne also managed to finish a children’s book based on the song, titled Drengen der ikke ville være skurk. The book was published, according to Hanne’s wish, shortly before the festival.
The music for the song was composed by Hanne’s dear friend Kirsten Maria Skovhøj, who will also take part in the opening, where we will sing it together. A villain song that will make us smile – and give us the chance to remember Hanne.
And here is a sneak peek at the first verse and the chorus, so you can warm up your voice:
Jeg er byens superskurk.
Nej til broccoli – og agurk!
Uha – går aldrig i bad,
sorte negle gør mig glad!
Jeg elsker, elsker, elsker, elsker, elsker, elsker,
elsker MIG SELV!
We look forward to seeing you at the official opening of Fantasy Festival 2025 – where the villains get the first word.
