# Gender and sexuality in Danish fantasy 2000-2025

Based on new research in Danish fantasy for children and young people, a PhD fellow gives a professional presentation on gender, sexuality and the hero's journey. The presentation zooms in on the literary figure of the tomboy – an often pervasive, but rarely unambiguous hero in Danish fantasy from 2000 to 2025. Through the genre's magical worlds, hero figures and educational journeys, the presentation examines how notions of gender are changing – and what this means for fantasy heroes today.
