The Opening of Fantasy Festival – with a Touch of Villains and a Special Song
When Fantasy Festival 2025 opens, something truly special awaits. Two of the genre’s most prominent voices, Kenneth Bøgh Andersen and Tad Williams, will begin with words of inspiration before the stage is handed over to the villains – and to a very special song that holds both humor and a cherished memory.
This spring, Esbjerg legend and extraordinary storyteller Hanne Meyer wrote a villain song for this year’s festival. The song was meant to open the festival. At that time, Hanne was very ill and sadly passed away in June.
Fortunately, we still have the song – and Hanne also managed to finish a children’s book based on it, titled The Boy Who Didn’t Want to Be a Villain.
The book was published, according to Hanne’s wish, shortly before the festival.
The music for the song was composed by Hanne’s dear friend Kirsten Maria Skovhøj, who will also take part in the opening, where we will sing it together. A villain song that will make us smile – and give us the chance to remember Hanne.
And here’s a sneak peek at the first verse and the chorus, so you can warm up your voice:
Jeg er byens superskurk.
Nej til broccoli – og agurk!
Uha – går aldrig i bad,
sorte negle gør mig glad!
Jeg elsker, elsker, elsker, elsker, elsker, elsker,
elsker MIG SELV!
