## Fantasyfestival 2026 presents: Michael R. Miller as this year’s Guest of Honour!

Michael R. Miller was born and raised in Scotland, and his worlds are deeply influenced by the vast and rugged landscapes he grew up in. With more than 500,000 books sold and numerous appearances on bestseller lists, including Amazon and Audible, he is one of the most successful self-published authors on the market today.

He made his debut in 2015 with The Reborn King, the first book in the fantasy trilogy The Dragon’s Blade, completing the series in 2018. The trilogy follows Darnuir, prince of the dragons, who is reborn in human form and must battle the demons threatening the fragile peace.

In 2019, Battle Spire was released as the first instalment in the science fantasy series Hundred Kingdoms. The story follows a young man, Jack, who becomes trapped in a fantasy VR world when a hacker attacks the game. To save not only himself but also the millions of other players caught in the virtual realm, Jack must fight his way out.

Michael’s major breakthrough came with Ascendant, the first book in the Songs of Chaos series, published in 2020. Three additional novels and a novella have followed, and he is currently working on the fifth book in the series. Songs of Chaos follows the kitchen boy Holt, who rescues a dragon egg — and the blind dragon within. It marks the beginning of a new path as a dragon rider. But can a kitchen boy truly stand against the enemy who has slaughtered seasoned dragon riders?

Michael is also “that guy” who loves — or rather loved — debating wild Game of Thrones fan theories even more than the books and the TV show themselves, and he probably knows more about World of Warcraft than is strictly healthy.

If you want to learn more about Michael’s books, The Book Guy offers spoiler-free introductions to both [Songs of Chaos](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEM2J5PHTbU "Songs of Chaos") and [The Dragon's Blade](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4tkAz_Li-4&t=679s "The Dragon's Blade") on YouTube.

We can’t wait to go dragon riding with Michael this September!
